Boston Tall Ships Celebration

17 Jul

I recently was on a boat in boston for the tall ships celebration. It was absolutely gorgeous and I got an unreasonable amount of photos. Not to worry though, I’ll pick just the best for you all to see 😉

I think they all came out lovely but keep in mind they were all taken with an iPhone too!

Never Lose Your Hat Part 2.

17 Jul

As promised here are the rest of the pictures from the “never lose your hat set’.
I had a lot of fun doing this series and LOVE the way all the photos came out.
A friend of mine even went as far as to say that the photographer really captured my “essence” haha.
I’ve been thinking a lot about doing more modeling, its definitely a fun way to pass the time.

Anyways I have a lot to share with everyone about my business, crafts, dog and life.
Right now, I’ll just share these with you though and hope you enjoy them.
If you do don’t hesitate to check out the photographers Facebook page and give him a like.

Never Lose your hat!

10 Jul

Over the Weekend a friend of mine who also happened to be a photographer invited me over to model for a series he’s working on.

I jumped at the opportunity, of coarse! Lately I’ve been working really hard but my work is all scattered. Theres some sewing, some writing, some practicing guitar, and UKE!, some yoga, and a lot of actual work as a waitress on a lunch cruz called the harbor Queen.

I’ll write about all of these things at some point in the near future.

I haven’t had much time to post or update my Etsy for that matter, but here I am, hoping some people still care! 🙂

I have a few things to write about, that I’ll release within the next couple of weeks. One is about the trip I took Bonnaroo this summer, that some of you may find interesting.

Here are just a few of the lovely pictures my friend Heath Pettine is responsible for.

I Personally named the series ‘Never lose your hat’ It’s a play on the the phrase from the hitchhikers guid to the galaxy series.

Never lose your towel!

Juno loves her photo taken.

Everyone say hello to my sweetheart Juno.
This past week, w’ve been blessed with the most beautiful weather, so naturally I spent as much time outside with my dog friend as possible.
She had a blast and was wiped out every night, I can tell summers going to be a good time..I can’t wait!

I’ve been working on a custom baby bag recently that came out beautifully so far, Im just having a little trouble with an iron on transfer print.
Does anybody know anything about that?

I have a few ideas for back packs too, I wish I had more time!

Look What I found Part II!

I went Treasure hunting this past weekend and found a few very interesting things that I wanted to share with you guys!
I also listed them on Etsy, if you’re interested in buying in any of them.

Weird Science.

So, my hair is accustomed to a fair amount of abuse. Through out the years I have relentlessly straightened, curled, and colored my hair. The past few months I’ve been bleaching my hair and the outcome of it is fried & broken hair.
I wanted to color treat my hair but didn’t quite want to inflict anymore chemical warfare on on my head again. I came across henna hair dye at this handmade soap store named ‘Plush’ in the providence place mall, it looked like a chocolate bar!
Henna hair dye is a little pricey but if you have the money, worth it.
The dying process is a little bit of a pain in the ass, but it’s not so bad.
The dye itself feels like mud it’s kind of neat.
My only disappointment with the dye was the fact that once mixed it looked like diarrhea! haha but I put my big girl pants on and quickly moved past that.

In order for the dye to work you have to keep it in your hair over night, and the outcome of the color is somewhat of a mystery so I really went through with this all on good faith.
I bought red dye, melted it and mixed it with water, ground peppers, paprika, sazon, cayenne pepper and chili powder too help intensify the color.
The woman at plush said to leave it in as LONG as possible, that meant like two days..I left it in for 18 hours. The color came out relatively well, although I wish I didn’t skimp on the time now. I wonder how bad ass the color would be if I had been patient and left it in for 48 hours.

Here are some pictures of the dye mixed, the mix in my hair and the outcome.

Looook what I found ;)

I like to think of myself as a very enthusiastic lover of old things…one of my favorite things to do is treasure hunt.Surprisingly a lot of people I talk to say that they don’t shop at thrift stores because they don’t like to dig through the junk to get to the gold. I personally love it, you could say I’m partially in it for the sport of it all :).
My favorites are old sewing accessories, how to,cooking, home ec books, tools, and fabric…I love fabric, my boyfriend calls me a hoarder, I AM NOT A HOARDER, like I mentioned earlier I’m just a very enthusiastic lover of old things..

Anyways!! I figured since I found the things that I find on my outings interesting, I might share them with you guys too.
Hope you enjoy :]

Today I went to savers, I hate going there because I was once employed by them and trust me they are the walmart of thrift stores however I’m weak and they always have some beautiful CHEAP vintage/used fabric or sheets.

I did find quite a bit of this cream floral fabric, its perfect for undies which is my new obsession.

I also founds this vintage singer sewing book set. Its called ‘Singer Sewing Library’ its in lightly used condition so its still in good shape. The books were published in the 1930’s. I haven’t gotten to read the actual content yet, but when I do I’ll be sure to gibe you guys a review!

I came across some little metal cow boy boot salt & pepper shakers I wanted to get too, but decided against it last minute…they were cool :p

“Good Feeling, won’t you stay with me just a little longer”

1 Feb

Usually when I’m putting treasuries together on Etsy I have to have a specific theme or source of inspiration. Normally that inspiration would derive from a song, like today.
I put this treasury together while listening to the Violent Femmes ‘Good feeling’.
This song is so beautiful, and I go on crazy binges where I’ll just listen to this one song for hours, I can’t explain it.
Check out the treasury and all the beautiful things I found today.

Daisy, you’ll be missed.

Hey everyone!
So I’ve been a little busy getting my affairs in order and haven’t had time to blog too much, but now I have a few thing to share :]
Finally, I am enrolled in classes and I can’t believe that i’m so excited to actually be in school, I can remember all the hard work and intricate thinking and efforts I used to put into avoiding going to school. One time I ran from the police and hid in the bush of an elderly woman’s house when they caught me playing hooky..the woman saw me through her window and just looked absolutely amused by the whole situation. God I miss being 14 haha.

on a less happy note, I found my pet rat dead yesterday. Truly, I am heart broken, I loved her and she was the first pet I had that was actually mine. She liked to climb upside down on her cage, eat cheese its and snuggle under my sweatshirt.
RIP Daisy </3
